Customs Training Modules
Module 1: What is Customs?
This module on "What is Customs?" covers basic information on the definition, role and activities of customs; the general organizational structure and the actors involved; customs documentation; and information on legal frameworks, free trade areas and customs unions.
Module 2: Customs and Humanitarian Aid
"Customs and Humanitarian Aid" goes into detail about the linkage between, and the effects of, customs and the humanitarian supply chain. It covers the areas of international legal framework; where and how customs makes an impact; customs and both declared emergencies and non-declared emergencies; and the optimum customs lifecycle. Also attached is a copy of the UN/WCO Customs Model Agreement and the IFRC IDRL Guidelines for reference.
Module 3: Customs Information Dissemination (Customs Information Guide - CIG)
"Customs Information Dissemination" is intended to showcase the online Customs Information Guide (CIG) of UNJLC. It has been designed as a solution for the need to have a timely and accurate 'real-time' source of customs information during both emergency and non-emergency times.
Module 4: Customs Facilitation in Emergency Humanitarian Assistance: The Nepalese Case
This module looks, in detail, at the effect of the UN/WCO Customs Model Agreement on emergency humanitarian assistance. In light of this, it uses the "Nepal Pilot Project for the Implementation of the UN Customs Model Agreement in Emergency Humanitarian Assistance" as the point of departure. The focus is on the implementation plan, emergency response plan and its subsequent related training workshops. Also included is one of the Nepal training sessions (in Nepalese) and the Nepal Emergency Response Plan.
