Logistics Cluster Tracking Tool

The Logistics Cluster Tracking Tool (LCTT) is a small Microsoft Access database application designed mainly to test ideas, to elicit user comments and to propose screen designs.

Articles about the LCTT

The LCTT was developed in less than one month, with the intention of providing an interim tracking solution should an emergency occur before RITA is ready for release.

As it is intended only as a temporary solution, there are some limitations:

  • It is not internet-enabled. The LCTT works on a number of individual MS Access databases that must be consolidated manually
  • There may be some program bugs which will interfere with the smooth running of the system.
  • There are only a vary limited number of functional and management  reports available
  • No specific interface for functions other than recording CMRs (e.g., warehousing, dispatching, etc.)
  • No facility to identify individual pallets/shipping containers
  • No facility to track goods as they move across multiple sites - each movement requires a new CMR
  • No training materials
  • It is not a stock management system - It will, for example, report on the number of High Energy Biscuits for CMR goods received for a specific consignment, but will not report on the total number of high energy biscuits in the warehouse.
  • It is not a dispatch management system - The LCTT will not plan loads. It will only record loads that have already been designed.
