Highlights

  • The eleven humanitarian relief convoy (Convoy 11) successfully delivered 817.5MT of food into the Vanni region.
  • Convoy 11, consisting of 58 trucks and 5 light vehicles departed on Friday 16th January at 10:15 am. 51 trucks and 4 light vehicles returned to the inter agency logistic hub on Thursday 22nd January at 20:05, while the remaining 7 trucks and 1 light vehicle stayed behind in PTK for another week. See below for further information.
  • Due to the security reason, the convoy was delayed in returning from Wanni.
  • The initial plan was 62 trucks with 829.5 MT of mixed food and 3 trucks of NFRI for UNICEF. The UNICEF NFRI were rejected by SFHQ (W) and 1 truck broke down in Vavuniya town on departure, thus, the convoy was reduced to 58 trucks.
  • Ensuring the safe passage of the convoy is a crucial condition for a successful delivery of relief assistance. Security issues are a top priority and should be addressed at all levels.
