The Ninth humanitarian relief convoy (Convoy 09) successfully delivered 829.5MT of food and 5 trucks of UNICEF NFRI into the Vanni region.
Convoy 09 departed on Monday 29th December at 09:25 and returned to the Inter Agency Logistics Hub on Tuesday 30th December at 18:05.
Due to flooding of the road crossing at Theravilkulam the convoy did not reach Tharmapuram. This resulted in a change of plan and the offloading took place in PTK.
Ensuring the safe passage of the convoy is a crucial condition for a successful delivery of relief assistance. Security issues are a top priority and should be addressed at all levels.
