"Delivering as One"
To enhance operational and cost efficiency humanitarian logistics services, the concept of a WFP-led inter-agency logistics platform was endorsed in early 2007 by the Logis-tics Cluster and the UN Humanitarian Coor-dinator. As an inter-agency service under the "Delivering as One" strategy, the plat-form has benefited from core funding from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Pooled Fund.![]()
The main objective of the platform is to deliver humanitarian assistance efficiently and reliably through the identification of an appropriate transport mode, at the best cost possible, with a
thorough follow-up of eventual problems, while respecting UN
procurement rules and procedures. WFP processes partners' requests in a
timely fashion , obtains preferential rates for a variety of transport
modes, and communi-cates with partners on progress and con-straints. It
allows partners to concentrate on their core operations rather than
being bogged down with logistic management to and within DRC, saving
the agencies time and money.
