1. HIGHLIGHTS


  • A barge left this morning for Labutta carrying food, shelter and logistic support equipment.
  • Flights continued out of the DMK staging area in Bangkok for Yangon.



2.  CLUSTER ACTIVITIES UPDATES


  • Cargo is continuing to arrive to the DMK staging area in Bangkok. It is important to stress that partners use established procedures to facilitate further transport into Myanmar.
  • A truck loaded with logistics support equipment left today for Bogale, another is scheduled to depart tomorrow.


3.  AIR OPERATIONS


  • Today the following fights came into Yangon:

  • Two Puma helicopters arrived in Bangkok on the 27th May with the Australian air force.


4. WATER TRANSPORT


  • The barge for Labutta departed this morning at 05.30 carrying: 


             WFP: 100 tons of pulses, 19 mt of biscuits, 5 mt empty bags
             Log Cluster: 7 mt of logistics support equipment
             MERLIN:  33 mt of plastic sheeting

  • A boat will be loading tomorrow 56 mt of NFIs for Pyapon, Bogale and Setsan.
  • Tariff for containerised cargo using M.I.T.T. terminal facilities and services are available at the Logistics Cluster office in Yangoon.


5. LOGISTICS HUBS


Please see below updates on the actual situation of the Logistics Hub set up for the operation:

Mawlanyaingyun: location identified. 2,500 tons available in MAPT w/h
Labutta:  1,840 sqm (240 sqm dedicated to UNICEF, 1,120 to WFP, 480 available) Pathein: 4 units of 400 tons each (tot 1,600 tons)
Pyapon: 480 sqm
Bogale:  480 sqm (240 sqm dedicated to UNICEF) 720 sqm under construction


6. NEXT LOGISTICS CLUSTER MEETING


  • The next meeting of the Yangon Logistics Cluster will be held Friday 30th May 2008 at 1400 hrs.
  • The next meeting of the Bangkok Logistics Cluster will be held Thursday 29th May 2008 at 1100 hrs.
