1. HIGHLIGHTS
- The Bangkok logistics cluster meeting took place today. Over 30 participants from 30 different organizations attended the meeting. Attached minutes.
- The Logistics Cluster SOPs has been finalized and published on the Logistics cluster webpage for the users of the service offered by the cluster.
2. CLUSTER ACTIVITIES UPDATES
- In order to able to use the common transport services set up by the Logistics Cluster the CMR should be submitted 72 hrs in advance. The Cluster will feed back information on ETD 24 hrs before the cargo actually moves.
- The logistics cluster in Yangon signed today the contract for a 30 trucks fleet of various capacities. The trucks will be positioned at the cluster warehouse tomorrow and will be used on Friday when fuel will be made available.
- Please submit cargo forecast information to the cluster focal point, Rachida Abdelli (abdelli.rachida@wfp.org).
3. AIR OPERATIONS
- Updated information on cargo flights arriving in Myanmar is being compiled on a daily basis in the air operations report and made available on the cluster webpage.
- As per traffic control information, 14 flights were planned to come in today: 12 from bilateral cooperation (3 US AIR FORCE) and 2 for UN.
4. WATER TRANSPORT
- The barge rented by the Cluster for inter-agency is still loading and is scheduled to depart tomorrow 22nd for Labutta. The barge has been loaded with WFP food, 3 wikhalls, pallets and NFIs for Merlin.
- The logistics cluster is finalizing the contracting of 3 additional boats/barges (the service will include the loading):
1 boat - 300 tons
1 boat -600 tons
1 barge+ pusher – 500tons - 1 new jetty has been identified ( with priority given to the cluster)
5. LOGISTICS HUBS
- Please see below updates on the actual situation of the Logistics Hub set up for the operation:
Mawlanyaingyun: under assessment
Labutta: 4 w/h in place: 1 (10x24) for cluster, 3 for WFP, 3 more on the way down to Labutta.
Pathein: Identified space under negotiation
Pyapon: Identified space, close to the jetty but small. The cluster is looking for a larger hub
Bogale: Identified space building up 2 wikhalls
6. NEXT LOGISTICS CLUSTER MEETING
- The next meeting of the BKK Logistics Cluster will be Friday 23rd May 2008 at 1100 hrs.
