Logistics Response Team training - May 2007
 

The 1st Logistics Response Team (LRT) training took place at the UNHRD facilities in Brindisi and San Vito, Italy, from 12 to 18 May 2007. LRT training participants came from the following organisations:

- Care International - Save the Children - Islamic Relief

- World Vision International - Oxfam - IOM - WFP - UNHCR

- UNICEF - WHO - UNJLC


The current Terms of Reference for a deployed LRT are, inter alia:

  • The LRT may recommend the activation of a Country-level Logistics Cluster.
  • The LRT assesses existing logistics operational capacity and requirements.
  • The LRT manages start-up operational logistics support.
  • The LRT proposes a common operational strategy and logistics operational plan for the humanitarian response.
  • The LRT initiates or formalizes inter-agency logistics coordination including government counterparts, military and donors.
  • The LRT address gaps and bottlenecks and prevents or eliminates duplication in humanitarian logistics operations.
  • The LRT ensures airfield decongestion.
  • The LRT ensures coordination of air assets including MCDA.
  • The LRT makes sure that information is shared with arriving organizations and appoints a focal point.
